Battlefield 3 Gameplay Leaked

Battlefield 3 is a hot topic of discussion, primed for release later this year the game offers some visually stunning graphics and fans can even bet that the multiplayer will be just as good as ever in a Battlefield game, While EA releases the occasional Faultline Videos on their youtube channel there is some new gameplay shown at GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2011 which shows some intriguing game play of BF3.

While this IS off screen footage and the graphic quality isn’t clear we can still see the gameplay and the one I am regretting seeing already is the return of prone in the game, the great thing about Bad Company 2 was the removal of Prone, Games like Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 are filled with prone snipers which are SIMPLY a nuisance to get rid off the removal of prone from BC2 proved to be a challenge to snipers every where but it still made the game fun and enjoyable compared to Black Ops or Modern Warfare 2 in many ways.
Battlefield 3 will be more PC centric with EA already disclosing that the PC version will offer larger maps and more player room while the console version will have smaller maps and lesser room for players on map, this is enough encouragement for me to get back on my Steam account and pre order this game as soon as it becomes available.
So far a lot of gameplay videos have surfaced and with constant details being told about the game I am highly anxious to see what the final product would look like.

Homefront's PC Patch Leaves Console Players Guessing

Homefront is testing a patch for the PC game but leaves console players wondering what will be in their patch and why this was THQ's first priority. From the Homefront News page:

Digital Extremes and KAOS are happy to announce our first major update for the PC version of the game. This patch will update the client to version 1.0.3 and is currently undergoing internal testing and is scheduled for release early next week! The complete list of changes can be found below in the story.

FEATURES

NEW FEATURE – DEMO URL
- A DemoURL can now be specified in the server playlist, this is used to indicate the location of stored demo files to user’s in-game (see the multiplayer options screen). A good practice for server admins would be to share the demo folder via FTP, this would allow users to grab demos of games they starred in, and also (very importantly!) allow users and anti-cheat authorities to download evidence for cheat reporting. Incidentally, it is now possible to dump all users unique steamID's from both in-game, and in-demos to the console or text file (this will make reporting abusive players and enforcing bans incredibly easy).

Improved Squad Based Gameplay
- Players will now re-spawn at a point nearest to the closest member of their squad.
- Squad mates will now be colored blue on the mini-map and full-screen maps.

GAME BALANCE
- RPG's now deal additional damage to HMMWV's
- Lowered m200 and m110 sniper rifle damages. The only 1 shot possible is now headshots.
- Flak jacket now has a lower BP cost, and a slight effectiveness buff.
- Diablo damage adjusted
- Weapon is taken out of ADS and accuracy decreases when jumping.

OPTIMIZATIONS & FIXES
- The Rhino drones weapon attachment was not being properly moved with the Rhino drone on dedicated servers, causing the rockets to fire incorrectly. This is now fixed.
- We have added some animation optimizations for large player games.
- Several UI related improvements were added for large player games .
- Fixed scaling text zooming on Battle Commander when opening up the battle chat or squad UI.
- Switched the buttons around on the load out rename confirmation dialog to better abide by conventions.
- Improved SLI/CrossFireX support.
- A few reported issues with WinXP 64 bit edition have been addressed.
- Improved menu navigation with analogue controls.

General Improvements
- User feedback for kicks and bans has been improved.
- The intermission lobby now displays clan tags.
- Text chat is now possible in the kill cam, spawn selection, and intermission lobby screens.

New Settings & Control Options
- EnableD3D10/11 is now accessible via the system settings menu.
- Mouse acceleration is now accessible via the controls menu.
- Mouse smoothing is now accessible via the controls menu.

[Game Giveaway] The Most Popular Mobile Game, Angry Birds, Is Now A PC Game And You Can Get It Free For A Limited Time

Finally, those birds that everybody likes has arrived on PC. After iPhone, iPad, Android and other mobile versions, also iPhone cases and toys, Angry Birds has finally arrived on the PC thanks to the Intel App Up store.

Overall it’s pretty much an identical game play experience to the iPhone app, with some minor differences. It’s snappy, gorgeous, and it sounds amazing. On the netbook version you use a mouse or trackpad instead of touch. There is an open hand icon when the mouse is in hover state, and a closed hand icon when you are clicking or dragging. This visible clue when pulling the slingshot is a nice aid. It allows you to fine tune shots more than just observing the angle of the slingshot band.

Download Link

Note that it will appear as though you must pay $4.99.  Ignore the $4.99. Just proceed like you are buying it, once you get to screen that gives you an option to enter credit card info or proceed to Intel AppUp(SM) center, go to Intel AppUp(SM) center and start downloading the game. You are never asked for payment. You will see the game in the AppUp and just click launch and you can play the game.

Enjoy!

Homefront Is Back On It's Feet - Servers Added, Patch Added. THQ Stock UP and Prices Up

It's rumoured that THQ was angry at Wal-Mart and Amazon for dropping the price of Homefront so drastically because they felt it reflected poorly on the game. (I would be angry too too.)  Allegedly, Wal-Mart intended to continue the sale until they were contacted by THQ.   In fact, it wasn't even being called a sale.  They just dropped the online price and Amazon matched it.   Maybe it was a publicity stunt, if so, it worked as you can tell by THQ's stock HERE it began to rise almost as soon as the priced dropped.  THQ had already double their servers and had almost finished with a patch that fixed many problems.

The fact is, in addition to pre-orders, Homefront got 350,000  sales in the first day thus overwhelming servers plus the was no beta to test the servers and any other issues.  This generated negative reviews, Wall Street panicked and Wal-Mart dropped the on-line price by 1/3 and Amazon matched them.  There are a lot of people who sold it back to stores and now realize they should have just waited for THQ to iron out the issues.  You can still get it for pretty cheap though Amazon, their price is 57.99 but beneath that it says 15 new from $45.99.  Wal-Mart is $55.96 quite a jump from $41.96.  I'm just glad I got in on the deal.  I ordered it on Thursday and it is to arrive Monday.  arrived today!!!!!

Homefront Servers Overload and THQ's Stock Crumbles - Game Price Drops 1/3

Homefront's Rough Start Is To Your Advantage As Price is Cut by 1/3

If you go to the Homefront Forums you will find a lot of unhappy campers.  The biggest complaint is the servers are overloaded and nobody can get into a game and if they do, they're rubber-banding.....lag city.  There are also complaints that the campaign is only 4 hours long (estimates vary.)   THQ has doubled their servers but still can't keep up with the demand.  This of course will all get fixed so what are they unhappy about?  24 hours into it's release the price was reduced by 1/3...........

If you are going to get it, I would go with Amazon as they offer free shipping.  The servers should be plentiful by the time it arrives.  With the release of Crysis 2 , the recent release of Killzone 3 and the latest Socom, this mess couldn't have happened at a worse time.  I plan on getting in on this Amazon bargain. ~edit~  I ordered mine last night through Amazon and it should get here on 03-22-11 at the latest.  Price after tax with free shipping - $41.96 USD.  That's $5 less than a 1.75 litter bottle of bourbon which is a little less than 48 hours of fun.  I expect to get much more out of this one.  Some trolls claim the graphics are like COD 3.  I beg to differ.  The multiplay vids upped on youtube had me sold..............

Bulletstorm Gameplay - Game Released Feb. 22, 2011

I just played the demo for Bulletstorm and although it was a little cartoon-like, it was a blast to play.  The dialogue was a little immature and vulgar at times but I guess they have to appeal to 14 yr olds too.

The gameplay is like a mix of Infamous, any good 1st person shooter and Resistance or....something from a sci-fi horror movie.  The firepower and foot and fist power was very satisfying.  The demo doesn't last long and sometimes your two crew members just squat silently and wait to see if you know where to go but it had me wanting more.  I may pick up a used copy someday unless I hear friends raving about it.

First Strike - Black Ops New Map Pack Gameplay

A Much Needed Map Pack Now Available for Black Ops

Having lost interest in Black Ops quickly after reaching 1st level  Prestige I am happy that DLC is out so quickly into the game's release.  Why so quickly?   Maybe I wasn't the only one who grew tired of it so fast.
After the initial thrill faded I found myself disliking many maps so this will be a welcomed addition.

I was pumped about the zombie maps but who enjoys living in a post-apocalyptic world of zombies when you have tunnel vision?  Maybe I didn't give the zombie maps enough of a chance or maybe I simply wasn't that good at playing them.  Regardless, I will probably be getting this DLC soon but not until I have purchased Homefront.

THQ's Homefront to be released 03-15-11 and Looks Awesome!

If Red Dawn was a video game set in the future, here's what it would look like:
Despite THQ's recent PR issue they are just as pumped as the anticipting fans of Homefront.  Homefront is set in a near future America in 2027 when a nuclear-armed Korean People's Army invades the USA. The game is written by John Milius, who co-wrote Apocalypse Now and wrote Red Dawn. The beginning gameplay is reportedly set in Montrose, Colorado.  One of the major portions of the story arc is built around not only the growth of the North Korean forces over the years leading to the year 2027 (the year in which the game takes place), but also the economic downfall of the United States of America, and the unrest that seems to grip the nation before the invasion.
The player is invited to join the American resistance, "using guerrilla tactics, commandeering military vehicles, and utilizing advanced drone technology", but the player may join the North Korean Forces as well but only in multiplayer matches. The game will also feature vehicle based 32 player online warfare using dedicated servers. The game is planned to ship on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Single Player

Homefront's gameplay has been completely reworked from its origins in Frontlines: Fuel of War, focusing on a more cinematic, character driven experience.  David Votypka, the design director of Homefront, stated in an interview with G4TV that the gameplay will be based around guerilla style tactics, inspired by Half-Life 2.  The same interview also contained information stating that one of the important facts concerning your surroundings is that they are built to try and build a connection with the user by using real companies and brands.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer component of Homefront is focused on large-scale vehicle based combat reminiscent of Kaos' first title,Frontlines:Fuel of War. The defining innovation of Homefront's Multiplayer is its battle points system, which is an in-game currency that allows player to purchase weapons, gear and vehicles. Players earn points by taking objectives and getting kills and are forced to choose between many small purchases such as weapons versus larger, higher cost items like helicopters and tanks. It has been confirmed that the multi-player will support up to 32 players in one match, with 16 players on each team. Homefront on Xbox 360 will be getting a timed exclusive map called "Suburbs", which will be set in the Suburbs of America and will be infantry / drone only.

Multiplayer Walkthrough

Personally I am pumped about this game.  It should keep me content until BF3 comes out but and possibly long after.
