Operation 40: Undertake a daring assassination attempt during the Bay of Pigs invasion.
For Mason things start to heat up, when police enter you must wait until your team makes their first move, follow the on-screen instructions to take out the first enemy. As the police that made their way into the bar are now dead, you must head outside through the door. After you have taken down the police head down the street, you will now be given on screen instructions to guide you (using the grenade launcher on your rifle).
Your next mission is pretty easy, you must stay undercover and undetected as much as possible in the mission. Remember: FOLLOW YOUR TEAM!
Finally you will then need to jump into the car, as this mission comes to a close it will finally end with Mason once again in the interrogation room.
As you start infiltrating the compound you will gain control back, follow the on screen instructions to the zip line. Zip line down to the compound below, perform a melee attack on the soldier using the radio and continue on with the mission. At the top of the stairs you will see a building to your left. Follow Woods and Bowman as they approach the door gun down the soldiers and take cover quickly to the right.
Mission 1: Operation 40 Part 2
Tip: When reloading make sure you do it in cover, you could save yourself a lot of deaths.
As you go through the dining room try and stick close to Woods, remember to check out all the time for extra soldiers. (The bedroom and the hallway.) Now you have cleared the room, Woods will kick down the door, This will now give you a slow motion sequence which will allow you to shoot Castro’s face.
Leave through the door to the left, (the door that gets blown open). Grab as much cover as possible since there will be swarms of soldiers coming through the doors ahead. Be careful as the soldiers at the end of the hallway are hard to see.
Before you head down the stairs, check for a bedroom on the right, just near where Bowman came to rejoin you. Here you should be able to find it attached to an alcove inside the bedroom, check the top of the dresser for the tape recorder.
Since you are taking on heavy fire with the enemy (and more are arriving in trucks) wait for the trucks to come to a stop and take them out with a RPG to take out the 50 calibre gun. Following on with Woods and Bowman through the sugarcane fields, keeping following on until you come across a broken wall, repel down and you will come across a hanger which you will need to enter.
Your mission now from the door of the plane, is to take out the enemies who are trying to prevent you from taking off. You will see some ref barrels, and also look for anything mechanical. Shooting these will trigger an explosion and will take out the nearby enemies and their trucks.
As you approach the runway Mason will jump out. All he needs to do is aim at the road blocks to clear the runway then the plane will be able to take off.
Escape from Vorkuta; a brutal Soviet Labor Camp in northern Russia.
Tip: When aiming down your sights, line up the torso of your enemy to ensure a clean shot.
Mission 2: Vorkuta Part 2
Tip: Be on the look out for enemy weapons that may have very powerful attachments, these can turn a battle in your favor quickly.
In the start of this mission you either have the choice to save the prisoners or leave them, you must look out for people with welding pipes, you need to get them with your knife or you will face the consequences! There are a lot of dead-ends in this level, you really don’t need to take any notice of them. However, do watch out at all times for guards, if you come into contact with them kill them as they are a threat towards you.
After the guard id dealt with there should be a pistol around on the floor, as the door opens all hell breaks loose. You will now have a follower located on your screen (He will have follower written in yellow above his head.) This character is Reznov. You must follow him behind the coal cart. Use your pistol to shoot at the enemies trying to flank at your position. Open the gate and proceed to the next part of the complex.
It takes some time for Sergei to break down the door so in the mean time follow Reznov up stairs, as you carry on up the stairs to the top of the tower. You will come across 2 prisoners that have made a make shift sling. Mason’s job here is to fire flaming Movoltos at the surrounding buildings. You have to take out three targets to complete your mission.
As you make your way down the stairs Sergei has finally opened the door with his bare hands. You must now pick up a shotgun and head back downstairs. Some guards will come out of the alleyways, be careful as these guards are armed with AK-47′s, as you kill them you should grab an AK-47 to replace your pistol.
When you make your way around the first corer you will see an attack helicopter, this is known as the “winged beast” in Reznov’s code. Your task… To take town the chopper. You must now keep your main focus on the guards on the ground, shoot at the truck until it explodes. Remember that there is a chopping flying overhead so take cover.
Reznov is inside, run to the door with the objective marker, you must now follow him upstairs and back outside.
As you move into the armoury keep your eyes open for an AK-47 with a grenade launcher, switch to this and follow on with the prisoners.
There are enemies here so why not try out your newly found AK-47 with grenade launcher to take them out!
But that is not the last of them, make sure you stay behind and take cover. (maybe test out your launcher again to take the enemies out once again) use the stairs for cover, the stairs will keep you out of firing range.
Now the door has closed on you make sure you sprint across the room to the glass area (take cover). Press your interact button to complete this mission.
You must now follow Reznov once again up the stairs keeping a close eye open for more enemies as you approach the top of the stair.
Now you have killed all the soldiers as usual more will appear, once you have killed them Reznov will run off with his Blowtorch, you must now look out for him as he uses the blowtorch to enter the armoury, stay behind Reznov and crouch firing at the guards. After a minute or so Reznov will finally break through to the armoury. Hide inside the armoury and grab hold of the death machine placed on the bench.
Downstairs there are a few guards standing next to their trucks, use a mini-gun to take out the trucks and the soldiers.
Protip: Always be aware of the enemies, blow up the red barrels to blow up nearby enemies and stop reinforcements coming in that direction.
Yes the mini-gun has a large impact, but remember you are not invincible. As you turn the corner you will see a transport truck, you must blow it up by firing into the trucks engine.
Your last objective will be swarmed by guards, you must kill them by denoting the truck and making sure you take down any guards that have escaped.
When you have woken up, make your way to a motorcycle and peruse your escape. Follow your on-screen instructions to learn how to drive your motorcycle. To complete this mission you must successfully jump to finish this level.
Back on US soil, meet with senior officials to discuss the threat posed by General Dragovich.
Tip: Sprinting between cover is a must to ensure your safety.
Infiltrate the Baikonur Cosmodrome and eliminate Dragovich and the Ascension scientists.
Tip: When attacking from a distance you can use the sound of rifle fire and muzzle flash as an indicator of the enemies direction.
Mission 4: Executive Order Part 2
Tip: Certain Barrels can explode, others are filled with napalm and need to be set off using your tac knife.
When moving up stairs utilise the natural cover they provide, to make entry into rooms much safer, you can also lure enemies in by popping your head up, and then running back down.
In this mission you will be placed with the same team you had in Cuba. First we need to follow Woods, As there are choppers overhead you need to stay undercover. Now that you are disguised as a soviet soldier it makes things a lot easier. You much stay near your team as you enter the base.
After the doors have opened, your cover is broken, and you must kill the few enemies with your pistol. They are located on the bottom floor. Move into the crouching position slowing up the staircase, as usual the second floor is bombarded with enemies. Finish them off by throwing a grenade. When the second floor is clear move up to the third (it’s not as bad as the second floor) climb the ladder to the roof, there will be an enemy straight ahead, run up and melee him and shoot the other.
Woods will now hand you a special crossbow that contains electric bolts. You can use this to blow the enemy vehicles up. You must now use the objective marker to find out where you need to shoot the zip line. You are now back in your special ops uniform, you must now follow Woods, but be careful to stay up top otherwise it will result in an immediate mission fail.
Remember to stay low and look out for enemies. When you reach the next section watch out for enemies behind the crates, as you peer around the corner take out the enemies with your MP5K, watch out for more enemies coming out on your left hand side.
Move in near the C4 outline and hold own your interact button. Back up into the stairs and fire a hole into the wall.
Head back outside and there will be a rocket launcher located next to Woods. Remember the first time will be hard but you need to aim the rocket straight up into the air. Remember you only get one shot at this, however even if fail the most recent check point is only a tiny bit before you blew a hole in the wall.
Remember, as you go further into the tunnels to cover Woods from gunfire, look out for grenade indicators.
In the next tunnel you much approach it carefully as it is filled with Soviets. This is a very tricky level as the enemies are very accurate with their aims. The best way to get through this mission is to push forward and take cover! Look out for rooms down the hallway, as there may be soldiers that will appear.
Head to Vietnam and work with old allies to investigate Soviet presence in the region.
Tip: Be careful of soldiers that can suddenly appear, from hidden positions like rat holes or empty barns.
Mission 5: S.O.G. Part 2
Tip: The AK47 offers some of the best balance as an all round assault rifle, but be sure to swap weapons often to find your favorite.
Change to your M60, it’s now your job to kick down the napalm barrels out in the field. As you move around the corner use your M60 to take out the enemy soldiers, and keep following your marker.
When you get to the detonation switch, use your interaction button to pick it up, but remember do not detonate it until Woods gives you the order. Once you have got the order from Woods, shoot any remaining enemies that survived the blast. Remember, there is a second detonator that needs to be activated.
Tip: As you are following Woods, have a look out for more weapons such as LAW rockets, M14, A China Lake, and a shotgun.
Your next objective is one people often forget about and get stuck at, you have to remember to run down to the napalm barrels at the bottom of the hill. Focus on your enemies near the barrels, and as soon as it’s clear run down the barrels switching to your lighter weapon and interacting, as a result you kick the barrels down the hill.
Your next objective is a hard one, as there is enemy after enemy. Try and get to the top of the hill as fast as you can (using the right hand path). As Woods gets ahead, follow behind with caution. Take as much cover as possible and continue pushing on towards the objective marker on your screen. As you move further on in the mission you will come across highlighted tanks, you much take out the highlighted tanks and make sure there is nothing in your line of fire.
At the height of the TET offensive, enter the MACV building to secure vital intelligence on Soviet plans for the region.
Tip: Throwing a grenade or flash bang into a room before entry, is standard military procedure, so why not use these real life tactics in your game.
Mission 6: The Defector Part 2
Tip: Using a pistol with a well aimed shot can often result in a one shot kill.
You must kill any Vietnamese soldiers that get in your way, as you go further into the building Bowman will rappels down in front of you. Give him some support, as you get an update on your sitrep. As you continue through the office some civilians will be held hostage. As you approach this room try and avoid shooting the civilians. For better aim switch to your commando rifle. Remember to use your grenades to help clear the areas.
Once you have finished clearing the area, move over to the far door to activate a breach. There is another breach door, follow Woods and he will lead you there. As you move outside there will be a soldier with a radio Hold down your interacting button and you will be able to call on airstrikes. Your first airstrike will be the building to your left hand side. Remember to stay behind cover and wait for your move-out order (you are now able to call in airstrikes as you please, you can do this by pressing the D-pad).
When most of the buildings are on fire call on a second airstrike to take out the final building at the end of the street. Do not follow too close, as there will be debris from the explosion. An NVA tank will appear take it down with yet another airstrike attack.
You are now once again meeting up with Reznov, kill the 5 NVA that arrive to depends the ZSU, when it is clear move out and plant the C4 to blow out the floor.
Since the chopper does not have enough space for everyone, you must set up a defence until the chopper can return for the second load of people. Mason must quickly place claymores in the northeast direction (you only have a short period of time before the battle starts). Remember that the returning tank will not be affected by any weapons you target it with (until you are able to use your airstrike).
Investigate the extent of project Nova by interrogating one of Dragovich’s former associates.
Tip: You can return an enemy grenade if you have time, follow the on screen prompts, just dont take to long, or it may take your arm off before you can throw it back.
Mission 7: Numbers Part 2
Tip: Swapping out for smaller more compact weapons, allows for faster movement in close quarters.
Climb the stairs and kill the agent in the window. You much follow Clarke and Weaver keep close to them. After you make the jump wait for the Doctor to move the refrigerator to open up the weapon stash. Switch to your short range weapon and stick behind the doctor. Beware of any enemies that may jump out at you. There is also a flashbang down the hall use this as an advantage and fire blind trying to kill your enemies.
Further along you will come across an area that is completely mental! But hang in there and take as much cover as you can find. Be sure to kill all the enemies before you leave the area.
Weaver goes over the top of the building, rather than following him; proceed to the lower left roof area using your short range weapon to kill any enemies you encounter. After you reach your objective point go down the stairs, clear the area so you can move safely forward.
Continue following the doctor, but be careful as there is a gap in the rooftops. The Doctor will destroy his lab to prevent Nova 6 falling into the wrong hands. Make sure you stock up on ammo. Follow the Doctors instructions and the objective markers to get to the other apartment. It will take approximately thirty seconds for the doctor to pick the lock, once the door is open follow the doctor out the door. You will have to save the doctor.
Learn of the origins of Project Nova.
Tip: Smoke grenades will provide you with cover, while making a run for safer more robust firing position, as bullets can penetrate weaker items like crates.
Mission 8: Project Nova Part 2
Tip: To move quietly use your crouch, this can help you move undetected and makes you a smaller target.
Mission 8: Project Nova Part 3
Tip: Be on the look out for special weapons like the G11 an experimental rifle from the 1970′s.
After you have taken care of the bridge, the next area is heavily filled with German Soldiers. You now have the advantage of smoke grenades and to call in mortar strikes. Use your new mortar grenade to take out the next bridge. Take cover behind the snow hills and throw a mortar smoke grenade, as you see the flying bodies you now know its time to move on.
Remember as you’re moving towards your objective to keep low and take cover so you are not detected by the enemy. Stay clear of the machine gun, you are unable to disarm it the first time round.
As you have cleared the next area, move towards the rocket which is marked with an objective indicator. Once you have interacted, you have three minutes to exit the ship before it goes BOOM!
Now you must shoot the highlighted beam that marks your exit route, be aware there are two special operatives at the end of the hall. Take them out by spraying them. Also shoot the British operatives climbing up the ship, there is an explosive barrel which will make your life a lot easier.
Search for evidence of Soviet presence within the villages of Northern Vietnam.
Tip: Flashbang grenades make room clearance much easier, stunned enemies cant shoot back for a while.
Mission 9: Victor Charlie Part 2
Tip: When using a sniper rifle, don’t forget to breath in to steady your aim.
After killing the soldiers on the cliff its now time to head towards the boat, when you get near the boat dive under be sure to stay under water until you reach the boat, if you don’t you will encounter an immediate fail. As you approach the boat press the melee button to finish off the V.C on-board. After you have placed your lot of C4 follow Woods back to the docks. Remembering to stay low at all times. Use your knife to take down the rice eating guards.
As you dive back into the river there will be an indicated area where you will need to place some semtex, swim back upstream hiding under the boats until you see the floating dead bodies.
Once you hear the order, Mason must pull the detonator. Since you have caught the enemies off guard, take them out in amongst the trees.
When Woods orders you onwards, take down the few enemies, this should be no problem what so ever, then proceed onwards into the tunnels. You will now follow Reznov deeper into the tunnels, when you take the lead be careful as there will be many enemies up ahead (they appear relatively quickly so be on guard at all times). When you make it to Kravchenko’s room be sure to make a run for it once the door is open.
Journey by river into Laotian territory, in search of Dragovich’s compound.
Tip: Having trouble shooting? The chest area is the largest part of the human body, so aim there first. A bigger target is always easier to hit.
Mission 10: Crash Site Part 2
Tip: Some mounted machine guns overheat quickly, so use short burst of fire to keep it cool.
The key to this level is do not rush. You can take down the enemies from the boat with a primary weapon. There is a meter below the bottom right hand corner this shows the guns heat level.
As you have cleared the first village, there will be three targets that light up, hang back and blow up the trucks using your rocket launcher.
For the second village you much focus on destroying the structures on your right hand side, once you have destroyed the structures make sure to have a look for anyone that got away.
You will see an objective marker. Fire ahead and watch the truck explode!
Tip: Remember if you encounter any damage, hang back and wait for the red ring of dead to disappear.
Once you have finished destroying the targets from the river, you will get two more objectives appear on your HUD. Before you head on to destroy them, take on the second round of enemy boats approaching from the river. As you approach the last check point on the river, a PT boat will approach you. You need to shoot at that ships engine to take down the PT boat…
As you approach the crash site, take cover behind the rocks, keeping low and desecrate. After the first two waves of soldiers have been taken care of, be aware more enemies will make their way out of the jungle. As the enemy chopper drops off more soldiers, hide behind the rocks and take cover, keep a look out. Using your flash grenades to shock your enemies.
You have now reached your main target (the crashed spy plane) be careful as the plane’s wing shifts as you get on it. Once you are in the back of the plane, Woods and Bowman will investigate a crate. Take the China lake gun from the crate. Use your China lake to take out approaching enemies. Be careful as there will be two enemy boats approaching. You are also able to take them out using your China Lake.
Strike at the heart of Project Nova, deep behind enemy lines.
Tip: Using a launcher like the china lake, can quickly clear a room ahead, and it has a much quicker reload time, than other more heavy duty types like the m202.
First you must locate your team. Four soldiers located north of the camera.
There are a group of soldiers smoking up ahead. By pressing the jump button when the camera sights them, your soldiers will take them out automatically when ordered.
Using a launcher like the china lake, can quickly clear a room ahead, and it has a much quicker reload time, than other more heavy duty types like the M202. Watch out for your team you don’t want to shoot them by mistake.
Focus on the enemies up front (use grenades, it makes life a lot easier).
To complete the first part of this mission you must plant C4 again a large wall head for cover and watch it blow.
Mission 11: WMD Part 2
Tip: When moving to cover try sprinting then press to go prone and you will slide into cover.
Next you must follow Weaver, move to the railing and hurl yourself up following your team up the stairs.
You and Weaver take one enemy each with a crossbow. You will now encounter 6 targets.
* The first target is a soldier covered in snow. You have to take him down before he reaches his destination.
* The second target are two soldiers fixing a truck, you must shoot one of them with a crossbow.
* The third target is another group of soldiers working on a truck you take one down and Weaver takes the other.
* The fourth target you must move through where the third target was taken down. First wait for Weaver to get into position and you must fire at the soldier on the left hand side.
* Target five is the hardest of them all, there are three soldiers located in this target, one is inside, one is on the rood and one is paroling.
* Target number six is patrolling the stair well. Use your silencer to take him out.
Remember to always look out for your team mates (take their backs whenever is possible). When the coast is clear you must now disable the comm room satellite use your objective indicators to help you disable the satellite.
As you have now headed outside, the enemy has triggered an avalanche, sprint to the ledge follow the object indicator to help your escape. As you land, you see some soldiers preparing some bombs. Take out the truck and watch it explode undercover.
Torture at the hands of the enemy only feeds the hunger for revenge.
Tip: Smaller weapons or those without scopes, make fighting within a building much easier, remember that when making your way through tight corridors.
Mission 12: Payback Part 2
Tip: Don’t forget to use your grenades, you can’t use them if you’re dead.
As Woods goes right and you go left, be ready to take out the enemies that will drop into the tunnels ahead. Stay low in the tunnels, using your spray and your AK to make a clear path, search the next room for an Olympia shot gun to replace your AK-47. Continue up the tunnel using your grenades as they make a great room clearer (or tunnel in this case). Eventually you will meet up with Woods, moving forwards you will kill the enemies. Remember use your grenades if things get mental!
When you have helped Woods get out of the tunnels look for the chopper. Like the boat before, you control the entire chopper!
* Your first chopper target is a clear wooden bridge up ahead.
* Next will be a large V.C. village destroy it using the missiles. Keep your eyes open for the boating firing below.
* The next target you need to focus on the PT boats, shortly after you arrive on this target mission your first target helicopter will arrive.
* Once you start hearing the alarms going, you must swerve to the left and right trying to avoid the rockets continue to your objective marker.
* Five is the easy one. Shoot at the pipe line with a missile.
* The sixth target is the largest. You need to destroy all targets before you are able to continue on your mission.
* Your final target is to take out the two hind’s, use your missiles to take these down. It might take some doing but keep at it ! (keep the copper moving at all times, this doesn’t allow the enemy chopper to lock onto your chopper to launch a missile)
At the landing base you will be able to stock up on some weapons.
As you proceed follow Woods, remembering to take cover and using your long distance weapon to take down the oncoming enemies. Follow on with Woods but be careful and look out for on-coming enemies (there will be more enemies inside the caves entrance). Follow Reznov into the next set of caves, the last room is jam packed full of enemies. Stay hidden behind the crates and use grenades to allow your team to move forward. Be patient, there are three waves of enemies so stay hidden until your team moves forward.
The plot unfolds in some serious twists and turns now, was it really Reznov that killed the Dr.?
Stay out of the light, if you are spotted you will fail the mission.
Keep following Reznov, once he opens the elevator hatch switch to your KS-23 and kill the enemies and the scientist down below.
You need to be very patient in this section, until your enemies stop firing I would not advise you move forward. If you do you will be overrun by enemies.
You must clear the first three rooms to get into the gas chamber, remember to kill the rest of the enemies before you enter.
Mission 13: Rebirth Part 2
Your gas mask can only take a certain amount of damage, so be careful, get hit one to many times and you will die due to the nova 6 gas.
Using the vehicle as an advantage you are able to throw grenades at the enemies. Press the fire button to throw them.
You are now in a giant cloud of Nova 6, which is a big disadvantage, as it will not let you heal like you do in the rest of the game. Be sure you stay out of trouble and try not take any damage. After you put on the hazmat suit, you will be able to run forward and jump into the jeep. — Further on you will spot a friendly helicopter that gets taken down. Here you much look for a Strella 3 rocket launcher. Then lock on two the two enemy choppers and take cover.
Move through the gate and use the crates as cover from the enemy. Keep an eye out for enemies on the rooftops. Keep undercover. Slowing moving forward into the entrance of the building. (watch out for two soldiers will be hiding behind the green desk) throw a grenade to take out the desk.
Finally you will reach the experiment chamber, all the enemies are located on the bottom floor. When Weaver moves follow him to complete the level.
Mission 13: Rebirth Part 3
Now for the real truth, it’s time to find out who was behind all this.
The truth can be frightening especially when you find out what has been happening.
During the huge helicopter firefight be careful of friendly troops, nobody likes a team killer and the level will go back to the last checkpoint.
Tip: If you find your aim is a bit unsteady, try turning off the vibration function of your controller.
Mission 15: Payback Part 2
Payback a dish best served cold and hard. This time around Dragovich won’t get away, and you will make sure of that.
Seven targets will light up on your HUB you must take these down, with an anti-aircraft firing position. There will be 8 more targets to take out on the ships stern, take these down with gunners and missile launchers. Let your team move up the ship and take on the enemies on the deck.
Now you need to move you chopper to fire at the targets down below. Follow your team to the front of the ship. Remember, if you hear the missile alarm going dodge the rockets! Don’t worry Weaver is in the clear.
After you have landed the chopper, run over to the crates and use them to hide from the enemy. Creeping behind the crates you can stay low and fire, making progress with the enemy team. There are some Valkyrie missiles lying on the floor (they’re highlighted) run over to them and change them for a Mac 11 weapon. Use the missiles to take down the enemy choppers. Use the rest of the rockets to take down the enemies, then switch back to your FAMAS. Once they are down you can now proceed towards the front of the deck. Using the crates as cover once again take down the enemy with your FAMAS.
Follow Hudson inside the ship. Mason must now swim towards the objective marker.
The final moments of the game will be spent in a one on one battle with Dragovich!
Congrats! The Black Ops are over and done, mission achieved!
